The Lonely Planet describes Chillagoe Cabins as "the best accommodation in Chillagoe" and they comprise 3 self-contained, two-person, cottages - two have queen beds and one has two singles and is suitable for persons with mobility difficulties. The cottages are delightful and carry the theme of an early Australian, 19th century miner's hut. They are air conditioned, have an ensuite, kitchenette, quality linen, a smattering of outback memorabilia and private courtyard.
Chillagoe Creek Homestead and Fossil House invites you to travel back in time. Take an extraordinary journey through an ever-changing landscape. Learn of the ancient coral reef, the remnants of which can still be seen today. The Homestead is home to a small, but select, collection of fossils. The specimens are representative of the three significant geological ages, which shaped the Chillagoe landscape.

Chillagoe is 215km or three hours' drive west of Cairns via Mareeba and Dimbulah on the northern end of the Atherton Tableland. The road is sealed all the way except for about 16km of gravel just before Chillagoe. Chillagoe can also be accessed via Herberton from the southern end of the Atherton Tableland, although there are more gravel roads along this route. Conventional-vehicle access is possible in dry weather but roads may be impassable in the summer wet season.
